The 30th Congress of the Polish Society of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine (PTHiT, Polskie Towarzystwo Hematologów i Transfuzjologów) is going to be held at the Bydgoszcz Trade Fair and Exhibition Center from September 8th to 10th, 2022. PTHiT Congresses are the most important scientific and educational events of our Society. It has become a tradition that PTHiT Congresses are held every two years, in odd years, however, the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in numerous changes and limitations in our lives. The formula of the 29th Congress, planned for the year 2021, had to be completely changed into an abbreviated, virtual form – “Highlights”. Being aware that complete satisfaction of scientific and educational needs is only granted by a meeting held face-to-face, the Board of PTHiT decided that the next Congress shall take place in the year 2022 and shall address the unsatisfied congress needs of 2021 as well as the emerging novelties. We hope that the Congress in Bydgoszcz will be a sign of the return to normality, that it will be interesting and fruitful, that it will address the needs for an exchange of scientific, educational and professional thoughts of everyday life.

The 30th PTHiT Congress will be devoted to scientific and practical aspects of the diagnostics and treatment of blood diseases. Among over forty sessions, we have also planned topics related to the etiology and pathogenesis of the diseases of the hematopoietic system. The lectures as well as oral and poster presentations shall refer to the problems we face in both scientific work and everyday clinical practice. We are planning to hold sessions which were traditionally organized during previous Congresses, that refer to neoplastic diseases of the hematopoietic system, non-neoplastic blood diseases, hemostasis disorders and transfusion medicine. Similarly as in previous years, the EHA – PTHiT session is going to be held, as well as international sessions including guests from different countries. We are also counting on the active participation of the representatives of pharmaceutical companies whose activity is associated with hematology.

We hope that the selection of topics and the discussions held with the participation of a wide range of specialists from Poland and from abroad will make the Congress interesting for you, and that it will be an opportunity to exchange experiences, to deepen the knowledge necessary in everyday clinical practice, to strengthen the existing contacts and friendships and also to establish new ones.
